New Terminal Services Agreement Between SLPA and Maersk to Enhance Colombo Port

The Sri Lanka Port Authority (SLPA) has signed an important Terminal Service Agreement (TSA) with Maersk, one of the world’s leading shipping and logistics companies. The main purpose of the agreement is to improve the operations and increase the amount of cargo handled at the port of Colombo.

The occasion was held with the attendance of SLPA’s officials: on behalf of Admiral Sirimewan Ranasinghe (RTD), Chairman of SLPA; Eng. Herath M. P. Jayawardhana, Vice Chairman; Eng. Ganaka Hemachandra, Managing Director, and other senior officials of the SLPA. Maersk was represented by Ms. Zsanett Balla, Head of the Operations for the Indian subcontinent, Middle East, and Africa; Nishish Saxena, Head of Terminal and Ocean Procurement for India and the Middle East; Biju Ravi, as Country Manager of Maersk Lanka Pvt Ltd; and Thilina Udayanga Perera, Port Executive Lead, Colombo.

During the event, both SLPA and Maersk discussed ways to work together more effectively and improve port operations. The TSA committee, together with the Marketing and Business Development Division of SLPA, played a key role in coordination with both the agreement and the event, showing the SLPA focus on building strong global partnerships and advancing the port’s capabilities to provide a world-class maritime service.
